In Honduras, a video showed drug traffickers negotiating bribes with the brother-in-law of President Xiomara Castro. In Venezuela, the apparent drop in crime rates turned out to be a rearrangement of the criminal landscape. We also told the story of reggaeton star “Richardi,” who rose to fame recording music behind bars. In Mexico, the Jalisco Cartel New Generation consolidated its control over Guadalajara, using violence to dominate the drug trade. At the same time, fentanyl production began to migrate to the north of the country due to threats from the Chapitos, who sought to ban its manufacture in Sinaloa.
