Arturo Paredes Cordoba, the brother of Jorge Mario Paredes Cordoba (pictured), alias “El Gordo,” was assassinated along with another man as he drove his car in Rio Dulce, Izabal, Guatemala.
According to elPeriodico newspaper, Paredes’ son was also injured in the attack. For years, Jorge Mario was one of Central America’s prime “transportistas,” moving cocaine for, among others, the Colombian capo Daniel Barrera Barrera, alias ‘El Loco.’ Jorge Mario was captured in Honduras in 2008, deported to New York State, and sentenced to 31 years in jail. The newspaper said Arturo was captured in Honduras recently but released.
