Met the Host
Deborah Bonello is an editor, author, and investigative reporter, and has been based in Latin America since 2006. After graduating from Bristol University in the UK, she left Europe for Latin America, where she has worked on projects and investigations on topics including drug trafficking, extortion, street gangs, and narco states. Bonello is the former editorial director for VICE News Latin America, and before that was a prolific multimedia freelancer for the Financial Times, the BBC, the Los Angeles Times, the Guardian, and other major media outlets.
She’s the author of the book “NARCAS: The Secret Rise of Woman in Latin America’s Cartels” (Beacon Press, July 2023), which has also been published in Portuguese and Spanish.
Deborah’s regular partners on the show include InSight Crime’s co-directors Jeremy McDermott and Steven Dudley, as well as other senior staff including James Bargent, Alex Papadovassilakis, Victoria Ditmaar, and Parker Asmaan.
