In our October 5 Facebook Live session, Co-director Steven Dudley spoke with Senior Investigator Héctor Silva Ávalos about InSight Crime’s ongoing coverage of the MS13 — in particular, the links between the gang’s leadership in El Salvador and the cells of the gang operating on the US East Coast.
The conversation began with Dudley and Silva discussing the structure and activities of the MS13 in the United States, some details of which have been revealed in recent indictments filed by US prosecutors against alleged gang members.
Dudley and Silva also talked about the MS13’s activities in Central America as well as the various factors contributing to what Silva described as the gang’s “long, painful excercise of restructuring.”
