The Zetas left dozens of “narcomantas,” or banners, in public places around the Mexican state of Nuevo Leon in the early hours of Tuesday morning. The signs were addressed to “informants” of rival drug-trafficking organization the Gulf Cartel, and called on them to “stop killing innocent people and fight.”
News source Blog del Narco reported that there were some 27 banners in the main streets of Nuevo Leon’s cities, such as Monterrey.
The blog commented that it was strange that the police left some of the banners in place for several hours, some of them until after 9:00 a.m., and that many were hung in front of public building that are supposedly guarded.
