Role Description:

InSight Crime is looking for a qualified professional to manage, optimize, and technically develop the organization’s website and web applications. The role involves implementing advanced technology solutions, overseeing the website’s operation, and optimizing content within the WordPress and Newspack ecosystem.


Main Responsibilities:

  • Deployment, advanced configuration, and customization of WordPress/Newspack.
  • Full management of the website: implementation of regular updates, content management, security monitoring, and backups.
  • Editorial coordination and content review.
  • Technical support to internal users and incident management.
  • Implementation of security monitoring tools like WP-Scan and Cloudflare.
  • Centralized management of access credentials through 1Password.
  • Creation and maintenance of detailed technical documentation, including manuals, runbooks, and post-mortems for incidents.
  • Application of CI/CD flows (Continuous Integration and Continuous Deployment) to facilitate the fast and secure delivery of software and changes, and version control using Git/GitHub.
  • Active collaboration with IT and editorial teams to optimize site performance and system functionality.

Minimum Requirements:


Academic Training:

  • Degree in graphic design, systems engineering, computer science, information technology, or related fields.

Proven Experience:

  • At least 2 years of experience managing WordPress and Newspack websites (mandatory).
  • Solid experience in implementing web security protocols, such as MFA (Multi-Factor Authentication), minimum access, and security policies.
  • Ability to document technical workflows, incident management, and protocols clearly and precisely.

Key Skills:

  • Advanced WordPress and Newspack management, including theme and plugin customization, and database management.
  • Automated backup strategies and tools, with regular restoration tests to ensure backup reliability.
  • Ability to detect, prevent, and respond to vulnerabilities and security threats on the website.
  • Efficient and open communication with editorial, IT, and other teams.
  • Organizational skills, autonomy, and a results-oriented focus.
  • Technical writing aimed at both technical and non-technical users.

Desirable Certifications (not mandatory):

  • Recognized WordPress certification (e.g., Yoast, WPBeginner).
  • CompTIA Security+ or similar certification (ISO 27001 Foundations).
  • Incident Management training (e.g., SANS, ITIL).
  • Google Workspace administrator certification (if applicable to collaborative structures).
